Cupples Station and Eagleton US Courthouse St Louis MO
Cupples Located between 7th and 11th streets, and Clark Ave. to Poplar Street, the Cupples Station complex consists of several Romanesque style warehouses designed by Eames and Young.
After completion of the Eads Bridge and the tunnel which connected the bridge with the Union Depot Railway Yards, Samuel Cupples and Robert Brookings saw an opportunity to locate warehouses there with ready rail access. Constructed between 1893 and 1894, the buildings were massively constructed and were made as fire resistant as possible.
Several of the original buildings were razed for the construction of Busch Stadium and Highway 40 in the early 1960's.
The complex was made a City Landmark in 1971.
Biography Greg Kluempers I started developing my style in 1970 when I bought my first 35mm camera and attended several photography and art classes at FVCC. This early work was black and white darkroom photography. I was in my first show in 1972. While working full time as an engineer at Boeing, I returned to Florissant Valley at night in 1999 and completed an associate degree in Photography in June, 2006. During this time, I learned to process color prints in the darkroom, started scanning my film, and learning photoshop to process my scans. In 2008 I purchased my first Canon digital camera and since then I have used only digital. In 2013 I switched over to Sony and I am now using a Sony Alpha a7R III.
